NEWS: SUPERALFUEL at the 2nd Annual Excellence in Green Hydrogen Production & Operations Forum
We are pleased to share that @GiouliKomata, Marketing & Quality Control Manager, and @DimitrisSpyrou, Head of European Projects at the Piraeus Port Authority, represented PPA to discuss at this important event the challenges and opportunities of integrating hydrogen into port activities as well as its use by ships as an alternative fuel. Mrs. Kommata also presented the hashtagSUPERALFUEL project, a cornerstone of PPA’s activities.
🔎 Key Highlights from the Presentation:
Hydrogen is among the alternative fuels for zero-emission vessels, alongside electricity and ammonia, as part of the ‘Fit for 55’ package.
SUPERALFUEL Project:
Developing harmonized safety guidelines and risk assessments for alternative fuels (hydrogen, ammonia, methanol) in the IPA Adriatic Ionian area.
Training stakeholders on the safety and sustainability of hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol bunkering operations through a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) platform.
PPA’s role includes conducting risk assessments for hydrogen and methanol bunkering operations at the Port of Piraeus and developing safety protocols based on best practices and international guidelines.
PPA’s Vision and Mission:
To be established as the port of choice in the Mediterranean Sea and a major node for freight transportation in Europe, promoting intermodal, sustainable, and smart solutions.
To build and operate port facilities efficiently and reliably, optimizing productivity, minimizing environmental footprint, advancing digital capabilities, and creating economic and social value.
PPA is committed to decarbonizing port activities and supporting clients in their journey.
Let’s pave the way for a sustainable and green future in maritime transport together! 🛳️ 🌍
