NEWS: SUPERALFUEL at Loss Prevention Conference in June 2025

The consortium of the SUPERALFUEL project has the honor to participate with a special session in the 18th International Symposium on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in the Process Industries (Loss Prevention 2025) and the accompanying exhibition, which will be held in Bologna from June 8 to 11, 2025.

The session, titled “Safety and Sustainability of Green and Alternative Fuels in Port Areas”, will be chaired by Dr. Olga Aneziris (Demokritos National Research Institute, GR), Prof. Ernesto Salzano (University of Bologna, IT), and Prof. Bruno Fabiano (University of Genoa, IT). It will focus on regulations, technical standards, and best practices related to hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol bunkering, storage, management, and supply systems in port areas and onboard ships. The session will also provide insights into the SUPERALFUEL project under the Interreg VI-B IPA ADRION Programme.

Key topics covered in the session include:

  • A systematic literature review on the safety of hydrogen as a marine fuel

  • A systematic literature review on the safety of methanol as a marine fuel

  • A systematic literature review on the safety of ammonia as a marine fuel

  • A thermo-kinetic analysis of NOx production from ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol fuels for shipping purposes
